Ups and Downs of Shooting Sports

Getting Started, It wasn't confusing for me because I already knew what all the stuff happens in football. Down to the plays they ran.

The lighting at first ended up being an issue. Different times of day, Different stadiums let it different light at different times. It was an easy fix but all that needed work was my timing to fix them.

Speed was something to get used to too. It's obviously very different trying to photograph people in full sprint and doing the same when their still.

Honestly, Taking pictures of other people wasn't very hard for me, I just saw it as more of a job rather than thinking too much into it. Shooting people I didn't and shooting my friends were both fun to me.

When I realized I had finally shot one of my first good images, I was excited. Realizing I could actually take good pictures of moving people that weren't looking at or focusing on me was a relief for me and my grades.

Something I would do differently, In my opinion I think I should get better at shooting the sideline and remembering to shoot the stands. There could be a lot of good stuff in the crowd, especially after a touchdown.

I used a Canon Ultrasonic 70-200 MM lens for all of the game but I should've switched to my 24-105 MM lens for cheerleaders, dancers, and halftime.

My camera setting were simple, Make sure my shutter was always 200 or above, my ISO between 100 and 1500 depending on whether the sun was out or it was only the floodlights keeping the place lit.

It usually took me a couple days to edit and find good pictures because I take at least a thousand or more each game. Which made things kinda hard on me but I didn't mind it much.

The timing of shooting usually varied. If it was for a moment like catching the cheerleaders or dancers doing something or even the crowd you waited for the right moment. If I was trying to get the action for the football players, usually you still kinda wait until you start to see a play develop, which happens pretty quick but if you think fast you can catch it.
